Interleukin-1-related cytokines as potential biomarkers in autoinflammatory skin diseases

چکیده
Introduction Urticarial rash is a hallmark symptom of autoinflammatory diseases such as Cryopyrin-associated periodic syndrome (CAPS) and Schnitzler’s syndrome (SchS). Clinically, the urticarial rash may not be distinguished from the skin symptoms in chronic urticaria patients. As interleukin-1ß (IL-1ß) has been shown to play a pivotal role in the pathogenesis of CAPS and SchS we here aim at investigating IL-1ß and related cytokines for their potential as diagnostic skin biomarkers in patients with urticarial autoinflammatory syndromes.

The association of pyoderma gangrenosum, acne, and suppurative hidradenitis (PASH) has recently been described and suggested to be a new entity within the spectrum of autoinflammatory syndromes, which are characterized by recurrent episodes of sterile inflammation, without circulating autoantibodies and autoreactive T-cells. We conducted an observational study on 5 patients with PASH syndrome, ...
متن کاملPotential of IL-1, IL-18 and Inflammasome Inhibition for the Treatment of Inflammatory Skin Diseases
In 2002, intracellular protein complexes known as the inflammasomes were discovered and were shown to have a crucial role in the sensing of intracellular pathogen- and danger-associated molecular patterns (PAMPs and DAMPs). Activation of the inflammasomes results in the processing and subsequent secretion of the pro-inflammatory cytokines IL-1β and IL-18. Several autoinflammatory disorders such...
متن کاملAutoinflammatory syndromes.
There has been an expansion of the autoinflammatory syndromes due to the discovery of new diseases related to mutations in genes regulating the innate immune system and the knowledge gained from these diseases as applied to more common nongenetic inflammatory conditions. Autoinflammatory syndromes are characterized by unprovoked (or triggered by minor events) recurrent episodes of systemic infl...

Cytokines are important regulators of the immune system, and identifying fish cytokines has potential applications for the development of vaccines and/or immunostimulants application in fisheries. In order to understand the immune-related genes triggered by immunostimulants derived from pathogens, we investigated the effects of agonists (lipopolysaccharide (LPS), Poly I:C, and imiquimod) of thr...
